Ranking Animated Horse Designs Take 3
This time I really am back by popular demand because the other two posts have been getting a steady trickle of notes for over a year now.
(If you're looking for stuff like Disney and Dreamworks there are two other posts. Here we've got mostly random cartoons and also the Pokemon horses)
Starlite (Rainbow Brite) 6/10 Little weird that he seems to be drawn in a style that's like 3x more realistic than any other character in this show but hey sometimes you just ascend to a higher plane of existence. (2014 Reboot Starlite gets a 3/10. I do not trust him.)
Skydancer (Rainbow Brite) 7/10 I bumped Starlite down a point because he wants what Skydancer has. Skydancer doesn't need rainbows to fly. Skydancer has a lightning bolt. Skydancer has the Drama. (The one wiki page said he's a Shire or a Clydesdale and um I don't think so. Maybe a Friesian.)
On-yx (Rainbow Brite) This is a rocket powered balloon animal. 2/10
Sunriser (Rainbow Brite) 5/10 Eh. I like her hair though.
Swift Wind (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power/ She-Ra Princess of Power)
Right (older version) 8/10 I don't understand the wing physics going on here. Also not sure if the horn is part of the mask or just attached to the mask. Diggin the bib though. Also love that he's a ginger.
Left (new version) 4/10 If the older version wasn't there this would score higher because just as a character design I don't think it's bad but if these are supposed to be the same character he seems so cutesy and I do not vibe with it. I don't know either show. So maybe that works. But it feels wrong.
Amalthea (The Last Unicorn) 9/10 They gave the unicorn the split deer hooves, and the lions tail and that is automatic points from me. Bummed they didn't go all out and give us the goat's beard. Rude. Any distance shot, I love. Close-ups of the face creep me out with the giant doll eyes and tiny nose.
(Pokemon and more below)
Honey Pie Pony (Strawberry Shortcake) 8/10 Adorable. Fantastically chunky design. The others from this... show? book? brand? are like 6s or 5s depending. But Honey Pie has the It factor. (The It Factor here apparently being that recurring pattern of only the main character's horse being able to talk?? This is the third. Swift Wind, Starlite and Honey Pie have dark secrets about how they come by this knowledge).
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic "ponies" Just as characters they're cute in a "trying so hard to be cute that they almost miss the mark entirely" way. But this is about how they are as HORSE designs. And these are magical gremlins not horses. 1/10 (WHAT is happening on the far right of this set. I do not approve. Zebra is fine though).
My Little Pony: A New Generation Like if the MLP: FM ponies and the Trolls characters somehow had children. Somehow the main character of Bee Movie was also involved. The one on the left makes TikTok thirst traps. -2/10
My Little Pony Tales 3/10 I can almost tell they're meant to be horses. Plus that one has a tattoo of a comb. So. Full extra point for the comb tattoo.
Bratz Horses I can't tell if there's an official video game or cartoon design for these but in ANY given version I found the conclusion is the same: if you look into the gigantic distended eye you will be put under the horse's curse. 1/10
Boxer (Animal Farm) 4/10 All horses are equal but some are more equal than others, but Boxer is not one of them because his mouth is not okay.
Marvin (Marvin the Tap Dancing Horse) 5/10 I mean. Dude's got spats. Come on.
Ponyta (Pokemon) 3/5 The armpit and middle thigh flames were a choice.
Rapidash (Pokemon) 8/10 Look at his face. The angst. He has seen things.
Mudsdale (Pokemon) 8/10 The classic mohawk, dreadlocks and legwarmers trifecta. Love it. Would love to hug him.
Galarian Ponyta 3/10 It's giving sheep, and it's giving dog. Very little horse.
Galarian Rapidash (Pokemon) 4/10 He's angry because his hair is too long and he can't walk and also he has not eaten enough somebody feed this horse.
Origin Palkia (Pokemon) 6/10 A built-in hoola-hoop AND thigh high Boots?! what fashion.
Keldeo (Pokemon) 1/10 Clown goat.
Spectrier (Pokemon) 10/10 Beautiful goth girl horse floating around like a Victorian ghost who's too modest to show her ankles.
Mudbray (Pokemon) 5/10 He has passed through the depths of existential dread and returned world-weary but unshakeable and with a snazzy bowl cut.
Glastrier (Pokemon)
20/10 ICE HORSE ICE HORSE ICE HORSE. I love him so much. He's punk rock
The Fat Horse (Looney Tunes) 10/10 Queen.

Pokemon Fun Facts!
Eevees are officially, scientifically, just so FLUFFY!
In that they’re double-coated, meaning they have a thicker woolly undercoat beneath their silkier topcoat! This gives them a lot of insulation from extremes of temperature and protection from dirt, moisture and biting insects! This is part of why Eevee are so adaptable to so many environments!
On the other hand, it also means their coats need a lot of care to keep them from getting matted and uncomfortable! In the wild, they spend a lot of time grooming each other, and it’s an important part of Eevee group socialisation; when kept by humans, it’s generally up to the trainer to provide regular brushing with the right tools! Luckily enough, because Eevee groom each other so regularly, a properly socialised Eevee that trusts its trainer will be more than happy to settle down for what they perceive as a bonding session, and demanding a good brushing when they don’t technically need one is a commonly recorded pet Eevee behaviour!
Apart from being so thick and fluffy, Eevee coats are also known for displaying a wide variety of patterns and textures! This is part of their famously flexible genetic code; input from an ancestor of a different species, or a different Eeveelution ancestor, or simply random mutations, occur with much greater regularity than with other species! A large part of showing Eevees, including for Contests, is leaning into this uniqueness- especially because, much to some people’s disgust, that genetic flexibility means that breeding any one feature true into the offspring can be extremely difficult!
#’Oh these two Eevee have lovely silky manes surely their babies will have silky manes too’#Nope their great-grandfather had a curly mane and now all the pups are curly#Surprise!#On the plus side it also means they're not very prone to harmful genetic conditions!#Pokeblogging#Pokemon headcanons#Eevee

So, me and @majesticjayejae wanted to do this one think people had been doing on TikTok or what may have you a few months ago, and it's just hilarious.
It's called the PMD Challenge. Basically, you go to the Nat Dex on this site, and you open up the Random Number Generator on Sligoogle. What you roll is the Pokemon you turn into if you were transferred into the other world. Oh, and someone has to draw the results.
Yes, me and Jay are already Pokemon, but I don't know the specifics of how that kind of thing works, so just roll with it.
So, funny thing. Back then, I rolled #643, which is Reshiram, my favorite legendary for a while.
While Jay rolled #967, which is... Cyclizar. Safe to say, she was heated.
"But Guy, you said this happened months ago!" you may cry. "How would you remember those Pokemon-" BECAUSE I DREW THEM.
Credit to Jay for the name, although I had another in mind at the time.
Keep in mind, no matter how upset Jay got, this was all in good fun... Even if I was laughing basically the entire time.
We're doing this again, since Jay thought it was unfair, but things just got worse. They demanded several reroll, and got several other Pokemon that might not be what you expect when you hear "strong", including Gible.
I rolled again for the sake of it, and I got Suicune, another legendary that I like.
This basically explains the skewing of luck between the two of us in a nutshell. Ask Jay, he can confirm it.

10 thru 15!
Are there any fandom(s) you avoid roleplaying in?
not overtly? this question to me implies a 'rotten egg' fandom, but I avoid muns more than series; bullies that lash out consistently, bigots, and apologists all share the 'don't step on my eggshells!!!!' hypocrisy when met with criticism- it doesn't matter how well behaved I am when explaining.
Antisemitism is the biggest No, however. My tastes have honestly outgrown anything written by an antisemite, and come to think of it, sexist/transphobic tropes. There's media I won't engage with of course, no more no less.
What made you start wanting to roleplay?
Last go around an RP group caught the attention of my favourite deviantartist...or maybe a member invited me? That was back in 2010, and pkmn-crossing was all anthros in a chatroom.
This time around I found the RP community through a friend (that wrote cheren), and just kinda....started messing with lysandres. The popular demand and attention was high, so my personal got remade into an RP blog after I got overwhelmed, aha. So, making people laugh? I've never intended for Felix or I to improve or develop, actually, but I'm glad that i have.
RPing is the most time-friendly hobby that I have- I can get satisfied or something 'done' in mere minutes where I often avoid doing tasks before work; compared to flipping on a video game where i need hours. So, it's addictive in that sense where the commitment isn't high-stakes; if i get distracted for 5 minutes it's fine!
Are there any characters you’re interested in wanting to roleplay as?
hmmm as a general rule, I desire to play whoever the community needs, I'd love to play sb underrated- but largely speaking muses Come to Me- It's been years since I RPed a character On Purpose, and it was Colress for a lil while- before i ever played BW2 and apparently nailed his portrayal from wiki alone!
The other day I did express some mild interest in RPing as N. i think the plan for now is maybe trying to develop the new muses I already have; Rex, Cynthia, and Arven are big ones.
But, knowing me, I'm gonna end up with some new random-ass muse before i get anything new done. Cutting icons for Adaman is probably something I should consider committing to since his muse is kinda quiet, as well. some other asshole's gonna pop up though, I just know it.
Are you interested in creating an oc and roleplaying as them?
oh always; I have several OCs in line for making pokemon verses of, need to get their bios done. Rex, Cassi, and Amadeus are big players here; and Magnus has finally translated well to pokemon. I may make a grunt or admin/leader for my Alpha Wolves team; although being based on literal bigotry it might just be played for laughs w/ the grunt.
And of course, Felix's kids're kinda half-baked by default- specifying their lineage for threads always sounds fun.
What are your thoughts on duplicates?
Oh please, I adore duplicates completely! My ADHD brain craves not just the variety in general between headcanons, but the individual familiar vibes of each alt! I feel pretty much zero amount threatened; to tell the truth my own muses don't always behave in the way I'd 'expect' the character to, so it's entirely possible for a duplicate to have the headcanons closest to what I have- or something similar! And that type of metacognition makes me feel safer anyways; I'll read a line or see a canon detail and go 'oh people are definitely gonna interpret this as A or B' so the 'result' doesn't seem so scary, if that makes sense.
I barely can decide on headcanons to begin with anyways- I'm extremely openminded so long as things aren't too legitimately gross.
What’s your impression on blogs who are selective/private?
Well, generally speaking I just assume the person is shy, or has crippling social anxiety. my rejection sensitive dysphoria is really, really bad- I don't often seek out these kinds of blogs with high hopes and get flattered when i do get their attention!
but, and I hate to say it, that I do watch my mutuals like a hawk- before we ever had a checker, I would check. Breaking mutuals with me noticably is an unfollow, and if followbacks never happen, it's on borrowed time (usually a month or few.) This is really just because I don't have much brainspace in me for being a 'fan' for the time being; nobody is obligated to do anything for me, but I try to do my best to nurture and encourage my own wants and needs too so that I don't get frustrated and sink too far down with my mental health. I'm happy to help people, but the risk of making somebody uncomfortable is a worry, too. I rarely keep nonmutuals- and when I do it tends to be just to read their writing with little intent to send things in or like posts.
But, of course there's blogs here and there whose rules might piss me off (especially if it's oxymoronic to my own blog.), I roll my eyes and move on without following. I try not to dwell on it, figure that they'll learn in their own time, and also try to keep quiet as far as they're concerned and off their radar while simultaneously having fun as usual and making general presence for myself- I don't provide dash commentary for non-mutuals to avoid confusion and/or 'butting in' to conversations that aren't 'mine.' It's not my job to try to convince em. and if it happens, my work will show them and I needn't engage and make it a Thing.
I have points of selectivity myself, so in a general sense I do get it. though mine are generally exhaustion, fairness, and attitude based; I try to avoid situations where:
somebody is dependent on me for their mental health (this includes entertainment/boredom) especially in a time-sensitive way.
somebody will fight with me, because I don't hold back
somebody will hurt me or others and can't be talked down- either because they want to hurt, or don't want to listen/change.
but I've pretty much only blocked regular partners for barging angrily into my DMs without warning, harassing me for threads/voice calls (by asking excessively if i was in the mood for them at inappropriate times), and trying to justify calling Felix a 'trap' when politely asked not to (my transition was fresh and scary- was not in the mind for slurs at the time.) otherwise I try to be chill overall, aaaa.

My roommate (@1863-project) and I have been talking about this for a bit, but it seems like maybe the pandemic/isolation has even affected quality of games lately?
We were talking about how everything in general seems to have dropped in quality (after I ordered a new piece of furniture and was sent half the parts in a different color and we had to call and ask for replacements and this was far from the first inconvenience with this store since 2020) but even games have been this way.
So much of Splatoon 3 suggests they’re out of touch with their fanbase. Nobody wants to lose their rank every “season” (heck, seasons seem pointless as you don’t pay to play the game like you usually do with games that have them), Table Turf is EXTREMELY hit or miss, but you can’t even play with other people at this point and get the same amount of points per win no matter which NPC you challenge, making leveling up a painful grind, Salmon Run still doesn’t give you any EXP and needs a lot of adjusting when it comes to Salmonid movement, player hitboxes, and the glowflies especially, Hero Mode demands perfection when the target audience is young teens (it’s just like Octo Expansion in too many ways but the difference is Octo Expansion wasn’t necessary to complete Splatoon 2′s Hero Mode)...and the bullying in Anarchy Battles is OUT OF CONTROL. Meanwhile the issue with the servers hasn’t been fixed at all despite having a few patches at this point. Whatever is going on feels half-baked and like the devs there forgot this game was intended for kids, and instead put out difficultly levels intended for pros and devs, suggesting maybe the devs got stuck in their own heads during the pandemic. Even the seasons feature would be for pros and devs because they can get their rank up quickly--casual players would barely get their rank up before losing it again. Either that, or they really just want you to play with friends, which it can be hard to find seven other people to play with if not all your friends like or own Splatoon, or can all play at the same time. Unfortunately and unintentionally, these things are gatekeeping casual fans from being able to enjoy the game much, or in the case of Anarchy Battles with random people, to even play the game.
The last three Pokemon games have been abysmal for various reasons. BDSP was outsourced and feels like a reskin of DP with very selective faithfulness to the originals. On the one hand we have only one button on the Poketch, the pacing hasn’t changed so it’s all grinding...basically it seems that the worst of Sinnoh has stayed. But on the other, we have quality of life updates such as Pokemon being able to follow you (which everyone wanted to return since HGSS), accessing the PC boxes from almost anywhere, HMs accessible from the Poketch (but disappointing as it’s the same Pokemon that help each time), and new rooms in the Underground to catch some Pokemon a lot earlier...yet they got rid of the Secret Bases for statues nobody wanted. “Faithful to the originals” seems to be a phrase they pull out only when faced with criticism for the games being nothing like what anyone had hoped for remakes, and for even being broken in some regards. BDSP feels like a game they definitely did not have time for, as well as one they may not have even wanted to make in the first place.
Everyone who’s been on my blog knows I hate PLA and that I haven’t played it in nearly 10 months. The biggest issue is the story; with all the dropped plotlines (INGO, the player character going home, what’s going on with the seemingly one-sided feud between Palina and Irida, the entire Daybreak Mission...to name a FEW) it really feels like multiple people worked on the story and none of them ever got to be in the same room, and they ran out of time and had to release the game as-is. In addition to this, the story contradicts itself a lot (”Pokemon are terrifying and humans and Pokemon must live separately!” yet from the start several people in Jubilife have a partner Pokemon, if not a team, the Diamond and Pearl Clans have several members who live alongside Pokemon, other regions are mentioned as already having people raising Pokemon and battling for fun, etc). As a result, the game feels incredibly unfinished and like the Pokemon Company (not Gamefreak) didn’t even care for it considering they announced Scarlet and Violet a month after its release...and PLA itself was released about two months after BDSP. Both games have been left without DLCs or major improvements, and PLA’s plot was just dropped, making it feel like development wasn’t able to fully come together and the corporate crunch just doesn’t want to have time to let anyone enjoy creating or playing these games before pushing out the next.
Scarlet and Violet...well, everyone is talking about how buggy they are. In addition to this, it’s still not truly “open-world” as you’re forced to do the Gym Challenge once again, and you have to do at least the Gym Challenge AND Titans if you want to be able to catch Pokemon at higher levels and access all areas on the map. The Gyms, Titans, and Team Star Bosses do not level to you so you either have to over-level your current party or be able to catch Pokemon of higher levels, meaning you WILL be doing the Gyms and you WILL be doing them in order according to the Gym Leaders’ Pokemons’ levels. The story could have been great, but gives too little too late. Starfall Street seemed to be the best-paced. Arven’s story gives you his motive early but doesn’t progress again until the final Titan. Nemona needed a lot much earlier because she unfortunately came off the wrong way to many people, as we don’t get any answers until the final part of the main gameplay and postgame. Often I find myself just riding around Paldea, looking for something to do because the trainers you find aren’t a challenge and there’s no sidequests, unless going to class and assisting your teachers counts, but these are more like playable cutscenes. This was a game that needed more time, but wasn’t given it. In many ways it feels like there was a schedule for programming things and once time was up on each segment, they weren’t allowed to go back. The overworld mechanics are much better in Arceus compared to SV, and it’s weird that being able to just throw balls at Pokemon, and have multiple Pokemon out in the overworld didn’t return...unless SV was programmed first and Arceus was actually where they improved things and weren’t able to go back to fix it for SV.
I’m just really wondering how much the pandemic affected how all these games turned out, as they were mostly likely being developed during the worst of it, and seem to be rushed as well as out of touch with what players have been wanting.

Digimon Adventure (Blind watch) - Episode 1
Oh snap, my first long haul series! I've decided that when I get to these mega-franchises I will watch them simultaneously with other shows so I don't get stuck on one series for an eternity (lol). In other words, I'll still be working on I'm Standing on a Million Lives as my "main" series, but Digimon will be my secondary...probably for years considering how long it is (gulp).
I have never, ever seen/played/done anything with Digimon. My history with the series is that I watched one episode at a friend's house in elementary school and was totally lost. I remember there was a cocoon lol. Excited to dive in head first!
I watched this first episode twice, first in dub-format and then sub. The dub was very cringe and the whole time watching it I was hyper aware of the fact that a ton of the dialogue was not in the original script. I see the nostalgic appeal, but I'll be sticking with the sub. The sub has better music, a better script, better sound effects, etc. (I got really excited that there was an insert song already haha). Anyway, my thoughts about episode 1 below the cut!
Notes:
-This show only appears to be available legally as a dub, so I guess there's not a lot of demand for the sub? Either way, you gotta watch it in the 4:3 aspect ratio, which is totally fine, just a pain in the butt when I want nicely cropped screenshots.
-One thing I liked better about the dub is that they have MC dude narrating the episode, in the Japanese it's some random adult man, which just feels kinda like clumsy exposition. The narration in the dub also had more personality (although the line "she's pretty cool...for a GIRL" was pretty cringe).
-Very nice, although kinda low-budget watercolor backgrounds are fun to look at. I think the character designs of the humans are pretty good too, definitely memorable (although there's a ton of characters to learn at once, which I found overwhelming).
-Watched the opening twice and it still makes zero sense. The weather is wacky and then they get sucked into the digital world via a wave? What does weather have to do with anything and why is there a wave when they're in the snow?? I just don't see how weather phenomenon ties into the digital theme, but maybe they'll explain later.
-Joe/Jyo is totally 90s Iida loool. Calls everyone "kun" and just has Iida vibes in general.
-Despite all of the Americanization, it's interesting how they mostly kept everyone's Japanese names, especially the mons? Props for not dumbing it down, I guess. Definitely sets it apart from Pokemon a bit.
-Don't really like the cutaways to each mon's stats. It's like they're inserting a wiki page directly into the show and it kinda breaks immersion.
-The digimon are kinda stupid-looking as babies, but if you consider that like "level 0" of their evolution chart, it makes sense that they would look as simple as possible. I don't really like how the evolutions don't always make sense like they do in Pokemon though. Like Koromon looks like a bunny but Agumon looks like a dinosaur. What? Who came up with these random ass designs?
-If I had to pick a fave mon from this episode, I think Patamon is pretty cute. Tokomon was hideous though so I'm conflicted haha.
-In the dub Kuwagamon had this really obnoxious roar that was not in the original episode. In the sub he makes this clicky beetle noise which makes so much more sense. Reminds me of how they made the shark roar in one of the Jaws movies.
-Weirdest line in the dub was when Koromon said "we're not just Digimon we're also...kinda cute!" haha so scuffed.
-The fact that the kids are instantly emotionally bonded to these blobs that they met 2 seconds ago really annoyed me. Taichi is all like "Koromon! Don't be a hero!!" and I'm like, you should still be in the "WTF" stage not the "BFFs" stage.
-Weirdly nostalgic for the Japanese Digimon opening because it was in the Kumikyoku Nico Nico Douga song remix back in the day. Can't wait to finally learn the lyrics!

Fuck it Welsknight appreciation post
Just because I can
Just random stuff I love abt Welsknight
The amount of dipshits he's put up with?? Like literally so many people have hounded him for being burned out when he was burned out and people are basically doing it again and he's only shown a legitimately negative reaction to it ONCE. He puts up with it so much and somehow has only once seemed visibly discouraged by it (if you don't know what I'm talking about here, I think you can still find the post where I went on about it in my top posts)
Literally just,, getting a hello as you enter chat is instant serotonin
His humor is so simple but great
Don't get me started with the amount of snark contained in this man, it's glorious
Putting on a fucking Mr Mime skin to terrorize Nebris and naming his sword "Mr Mime's Loving Touch" telling us that one day he would kill Nebris with it and in the chat there would be a message saying Nebris was slain by Mr Mime's Loving Touch (this is in Pixelmon Beyond btw)
Season 5 when he was getting a screenshot standing in front of the end crystals pissed off an enderman got blown up by said end crystals and his death message said "Welsknight was blown up by Enderman"
Falling asleep to his streams just hits different,, he has such a soothing voice
THE SEA SHANTIES. HIS VOICE IS JUST SO GOOD. IT'S ANGELIC AND BEAUTIFUL.
When he makes jokes about his age because we call him old or because he has to restate that "the only one allowed to talk about their age in chat is me"
Yelling "YOU KILLED MY WIFE!" in Among Us twice even though he killed his wife immediately right in front of someone else
His laugh. His fucking laugh, oh my god. Precious. You cannot listen to his giggles and tell me that does not give you ridiculous amounts of serotonin hIS LAUGH IS JUST SO DORKY
The little baby voice he uses when he talks to Remi,,,
I just love how several times he complained to us about when he was deployed to go mess with files in an office for a week describing it as "twiddling his thumbs in an air conditioned office"
Law Nerdᵀᴹ
And english nerd,, he's said a lot that he was almost an english teacher
HE HAS TOLD US ABOUT A GOATEE AND I HAVE MILDLY SEEN IT IN A FACE CAM IN A TWITCH SINGS STREAM
Just,, the way he starts off his streams,, love it
The way he often says "My friends" to refer to his audience
I clearly remember one time at the end of a Twitch Sings stream when before the raid he said "I love you all to death" and I wanted to cry at that
He's so wholesome??? He's so wholesome.
He's so laid back and chill and just so easy to vibe with
He might not stream or upload super often but he's still such a nice cc to vibe with???
And you can tell he genuinely appreciates the part of his audience that genuinely appreciates him. Like. Not his entire "fanbase" because a lot of them only care about hermitcraft, I'm talking the people who tune into every stream solely because it's Welsknight and they enjoy watching him play whatever game he chooses to play that day.
I also honestly like his non-HC streams better because significantly smaller audience and he gets to respond to basically every chat message
Gotta love that Riveting Circle Contentᵀᴹ in pixelmon
I just love how much of a pokemon nerd he is??
He literally talks about having pants that say "pokemon master" on them
When he was telling us about how he was helping Wifey pick out her team for the pixelmon tournament (THAT SHE WON BTW) and said she pointed to one and went "That one does the funny thing"
He's got these fucking edgy middle schooler undertones and I just live for that like idk about anyone else but I totally feel like that's a thing he has
He literally described Helsknight's vibes as being an edgy/angsty teenager
Once again I just admire that he absolutely refuses to let his audience control him in any way. He is a full time content creator who makes most of his money off hermitcraft content but he still doesn't give a shit how many people try to force him to make hermitcraft content instead of doing whatever the hell he wants playing whatever the hell he wants to play. He appreciates his audience and is thankful for it but still does not give a shit what any of them have to say when he isn't playing on the hermitcraft server and making hermitcraft videos.
Also this might sound like I'm throwing mega shade at bigger ccs (no one in particular just a general thing) but he actually knows how to control and properly influence his audience/fanbase lol basically all of his actual fans aren't toxic and by actual fans I mean literally anyone who doesn't just demand hermitcraft but literally everyone is chill and in no way toxic because woah he actually knows how to influence them properly and control them and knows how to have fun while still strictly enforcing things to ensure that his audience doesn't become toxic and shit
And yes I know with that one big fanbases = less control but my main point is he basically just knows how to properly influence people so that they don't get out of hand in the first place and so that everyone in his audience knows how to make sure others don't step out of line either and they know to just shove those people away and not fuel any flames
I'm basically just saying I admire how he's able to even have such a chill audience?? Not really focusing on if he can control them or not it's just the sole fact that he was able to build such a wholesome and chill community in general
That's it cause this list does not need to be super long skgkjakg

Do you personally know anyone who's a psychopath or sociopath? I don't think so. What is your most used kitchen appliance? Lately, it's been the apple slicer. I've been on a real apple slices + peanut butter kick lately. What is something that you would personally like to be remembered for? For being a caring person towards all living things. Have you ever been diagnosed as clinically depressed before? Yes. Do you like bowling? Yeah, it's fun. Do you own binoculars or nonoculars? What do you use them for? No. Do you ever wish you had a telescope on the roof or attic to stargaze? Yeah, that'd be cool. Have you ever had to deal with someone close to you going off to war? No, thankfully. Who do you feel you have the most in common with? Sara, easily. Who in your life causes you the most stress or negative feelings? My damn self lmao. Have you ever had a teacher that also taught your parents? No. My parents didn't grow up in NC. What’s one thing that people definitely CAN’T count on you for? To remember like... anything. What about something they definitely can count on you for? Someone to listen to encourage them. What’s one food that you want to try but haven’t yet? I've always thought macaroons look good. Do you have anything planned for the summer? No. Do you walk fast or slow? Slow. Would you consider yourself an adrenaline junkie? No. What is a common slang word from where you live? Plural "you" does not exist. It's "y'all," lol. What’s the scariest thing you’ve accidentally found on the internet? *shrug* Probably something as a kid, going on those sketchy websites with loads of games and stuff. Thinking of every Halloween costume you’ve had, which one was the most creative? I don't think I've had any creative costumes for Halloween. What’s one random city you want to visit? It's not exactly "random" as it's a popular location, but anyway, I would love to visit Venice. What subjects do you or did you get the worst grades in? Math. When was the last time you ate cake and what type of cake was it? That's a good question, actually. Maybe my niece's birthday in February? I don't remember what kind of cake it was. Do you have photos to go with all of the contacts in your phone? No; I don't have any. Do you like snowy winter days or do you prefer rainy days? SNOWY! Name 3 things you find most beautiful in nature: Mountains, large waterfalls, and desert dunes in the wind. If you could ask one person one questions and get a completely honest answer who would it be and what would you ask? Jason. I'd ask if he thought I was emotionally abusive. What is your favorite winter activity? Building snowmen. Who is the greatest singer who is no longer living? Freddie Mercury. What is your idea of heaven? I don't know, really... I have to ask myself IS there a heaven in eternity? Living forever just... doesn't appeal to me. "Living" is an odd word to use there, but hopefully you get it. Existing on and on and on and on seems like it'd just be a drag, but at the same time I do like the thought of feeling relentlessly happy and peaceful with my loved ones. I guess that would be my definition of it, if it does exist. What’s one of the scariest things you’ve ever done? ODed. Have you ever watched the Superbowl all the way through? Just once, on my 16th birthday because I was at Jason's place and all of his family was watching it. I had absolutely zero interest, but we wanted to hang with the family. If you had to move to another country, where would you move? Canada. Do you watch American Horror Story? I haven't in years. It was Jason's and my first "show," and the first season was excellent. I lost interest in the second one, honestly. I'd be up for watching other seasons, though. How many relationships have you been in this year? None. What's your favorite cereal? Probably Cinnamon Toast Crunch. That's also the only cereal where I can happily drink the milk afterwards. Twitter or Facebook? Facebook. Do you like to paint your nails? No. What's the coolest place you've ever been to? Disney World, probably. Have you ever punched anyone? No. What's something you wish you knew how to do? Cook. :/ I really need to make an effort to learn. It'd be great to not rely on a microwave for the rest of my life. What's a celebrity that everyone likes but you don't? *shrug* What food do you eat the most? Probably bread in some form or another. That really needs to stop. Green or purple grapes? Either one, but they have to be firm. I cannooooooot with soft grapes. Have you ever cried over a text? Yeah. What's the background of your phone of? My lock screen is this pretty, simplistic periwinkle color with "work on you for you" written on it. It's one I plan on keeping for probably a long time because I connect to it so deeply with my stupid damn head frequently demanding I have to improve "for Jason" to prove him wrong. Which is a very unhealthy mindset to have, I know. My home screen is a cute lil Mark edit someone made with a very similar pale blue background, so my phone is just currently an #aesthetic. Do you have a Snapchat? No. What's your favorite sports team? (if you like sports)? I don't like sports, but I'm biased towards the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team because of my dad. Last thing you ate? I had Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast. Do you take a lot of selfies? Definitely not. I just hate how I look so much; it takes way too much effort for me to get an "acceptable" one. Do you prefer strawberries or cherries? Strawberries. I hate cherries. How many hours of sleep did you get last night? Maybe like, three. -_- Our A/C is still out, and it was like, 87 in the house last night. It was impossible to sleep. Do you listen to music daily? Not EVERY day, but usually. Biggest insecurity? My weight. Do you play video games? Not as much as I used to. I'd probably play way more if I actually had a PS4 + the games I'm DYING to have. Do you consider yourself lazy? "Yes, but a lot of it is also health related for my lack of energy and motivation." <<<< This for me as well. What recently made you laugh? I was watching a bit of The Nanny with Mom yesterday. We love that show. Do you like gummy bears? Yep. What was the last song you listened to? I'm randomly hooked on "My Nocturnal Serenade" by YOHIO. Like, I've known the song for a long time, but NOW I'm bingeing it???? Describe your mom with one word. Selfless. What's the biggest turn-off? Probably being misogynistic. But being a cocky ass is definitely high up there, too. What fish scares you the most? Mfkng whale sharks terrify me. How do you feel about snails? They're cuties!!! What's your favorite app? Pokemon GO. Would you rather time travel into the past or future? The future, to see what's coming. I feel like you could come back with some pretty valuable information. What is the saddest song you've ever heard? I think "Terrible Things" by Mayday Parade has to come on top. What insect do you hate the most? I was reminded that stag beetles exist last night, and omfg those. Well, "hate" is the wrong word, really, I'm just terrified of them. Would you ever have a wild animal as a pet if possible? I 110% want to rescue an opossum, emphasis on "rescue." I'm not plucking one from the wild or anything like that. I would be in HEAVEN raising one of those angels. Are there any decorations that makes you happy? (lights, candles, plants..) I love those beds decorated with fairy lights, and just Christmas lights in general. Halloween and Christmas decor tend to give me sparks of happiness when I see 'em. Does race matter to you when it comes to dating? Not at all for me. When was the last time you painted something? Not since I was still in school and took a Painting course. When was the last time you really felt alive, and what were you doing? I have NO idea. What is one question you would like an answer to? Why the worst things tend to happen to good people. Name one favorite thing to do with kids while babysitting. I don't babysit, but if I was to be in charge of a kid, I'd love to teach them to play video games from my childhood. Playing Pokemon with my niece and nephew is always a blast, ahhhh. Name one flavor you like. Strawberry is pretty consistent. Name one thing you are hoping for. Venus' new terrarium soon... big sigh. I can't for the life of me find one that's a reasonable price and also adequately sized. I'm willing to put the rest of my cash into it, but Mom is helping, so I can't just buy the first one I see. Then I'd need more substrate, I seriously want a temperature gun and hygrometer, a cool hide, sticks and stuff for cover... It's going to be expensive, but I want Venus to have a truly proper environment she can thrive in. Write the name of one of your imaginary friends from when you were younger. Oddly enough, I can't remember the imaginary wolf that was my "friend." I say "oddly" because his whole idea was important to me as a weird-ass kid. Name one girl's name that starts with a "J" that you like. "Justine." Name one boy's name that starts with a "J" that you like. Maybe "Jaxson." Have you ever been kissed? Yeah. Have you ever feared that you would be killed? It's never been like, a fear I actively worry about. I just acknowledge it's always a possibility for anyone. What is the last great opportunity you missed? This was quite a while ago by now, but I'd say by dropping out of school, I really let photography opportunities slip since I became the newspaper photographer...

Hey chuck!!! How r u? Wanna meet up tomorrow? let me know if you're free! there's someone I want you to meet :)]
…
…
You’re slowly getting the hang of waking up in the morning and Jace has asked you to meet him today but prior to that, you have a window of opportunity to visit your mentor for a good hour or so.
The Corviknight taxi deposits you at the gates of Greyon's Cemetery; it is far more comforting to the eyes during the day, with the lack of ghost pokemon lurking within and the steely, heavy mist that swamps the entire the vicinity during late night hours.
Without further ado, you push the gates open and stroll inside, leisurely venturing down the twisted, stony path that leads to the mausoleum, glancing at the faded gravestones sticking out of the cold ground and the decorative sculptures with the overgrown moss and faded writing until you spot your mentor sleeping on the steps, clutching an empty can of beer to his chest whilst Absol curls up by his feet.
“Ezra?” you say aloud, and the old man responds with a snort and rubs at his nose briefly with his fingerless gloves before he sluggishly opens his eyes.
His gaze does not concentrate on anything in particular, even when you hop over and seat yourself on the stone steps by his side.
Emitting a low groan, Ezra sits up, cracks a few bones in his neck and shoulders at the same time and yawns loudly.
“Hnrgh…you’re here,” he grumbles raspily under his breath as he tosses the beer can away.
“Yeah," you reply, and Absol wakes up too, stretching on her front paws. She joins her master to sit upright on the steps and licks at her paw.
“What’re you doing here so early? It’s morning.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“Hn. Trying to integrate back into society, are you?”
“I guess… actually, I’m not gonna work on any cases for the time being so there’s no need for me to keep going out at night. And I’m meeting Jace later.”
“I see. Good for you, kid.”
“Have you been eating well?”
Ezra gestures to his pile of booze that has been messily laid in front of a gravestone near the fountain and nods. Flicking his empty gaze to you, he assesses you quietly, rubbing his chin with one hand.
“Somethin’ about you seems different,” he says with a grunt, his white eyes sweeping over your form.
“What is it??”
He narrows his eyes and Ezra breezily pinpoints the shimmering bright light that surrounds your silhouette, convulsing and coiling and emitting from your very core. You’ve always had it but it seems stronger.
“It’s so bright. I’ve never seen anything like it before. What happened to you when you were at Rose’s art gallery?”
You’ve informed him previously that you were taking Rose’s case and so you tell him everything and gesture to your bandaged arm and he listens, occasionally nodding and taking swigs of a new can of beer and harrumphing at random times until you finish.
And when he hears that you expelled an evil spirit out of your body, he nods to himself. “Well done."
“Thank Ezra, but Leon helped me. If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t have been able to do it.”
“But you did, and that’s very impressive. I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who has the ability to do that.”
You look at him in confusion, tilting your head to the side and he chuckles.
“You know what I’m talking about. Hell, maybe you’ll start seeing them in broad daylight like I do. From now on, be on your guard at all times. You need to proceed with caution; you might be able to see an’ hear more of ‘em often than you want.”
“...Is this what Rosie had too?”
He nods.
“And that’s why spirits were always attracted to her, why she was so vulnerable?”
A brief nod is your answer.
If only you had met Ezra earlier. He’s the only one who truly understands you and the pain and agony you’ve suffered. And if you had met him earlier, you could’ve brought Rosie to see him, he would’ve known what to do. He could’ve saved her.
He could’ve saved them all and-
Ezra slides a gnarled hand into the holey pockets of his duster and pulls out a folded talisman, nudging it to you. “Keep this on you at all times. It will protect you.”
“Thanks,” you utter as you pocket the talisman safely into your bag, “Ezra, do you think I should start looking for Dusknoir now?”
“Heh. You don’t need to ask me. You know what to do, and you know it’s nothing to do with the pokemon,” he says, before he fumbles his pockets for a cigarette and lights it up. Sucking a deep drag, he exhales with a heavy sigh, filling the atmosphere with a crisp and acrid stench, “I won’t sugarcoat it for you… It’ll come for you one day but when that day comes, I know you’ll be ready.”
You say quietly, “Hey...Ezra?”
“Yeah?”
“Thanks.”
He emits a soft hum under his breath. “…’welcome.”
“And uh, Spiritomb escaped too.”
He doesn’t appear surprised and waves his hand dismissively. “Yeah, I know. It’s fine, leave ‘im to me. I’ll take care of the bloody swirly bastard.”
As you nod, Ezra inhales another deep drag briefly before he splutters, hacking and heaving violently before a thin stream of red pools out from the corner of his cracked lips.
“Ah, fuck.”
Turning to the side, he spits some of the gunk out and wipes his chin whilst Absol begins purring loudly with concern.
“I’m fine,” he croaks out, coughing.
“No, you’re not. You need to go to hospital.”
When he’s finished coughing, he soaks up the rest of the cigarette and utters, “I’m going soon. Take a look at this.”
You are presented with a folded letter, you unfurl the paper to reveal an insignia of a hospital stamped at the top; you scan the remainder of the letter where there are several prevalent words along with some Braille.
“Lung carcinoma??” you exclaim, eyes wide. "Cancer...?"
"Yeah."
Shaking your head in disbelief, you grow limp in your seat as you clutch the letter meekly in hands. It’s taunting you.
Everything is.
…
Ezra is dying.
He’s old and he’s aware he smokes and drinks like a degenerate.
It’s inevitable.
Laden with heavy thoughts, you arrive at Jace’s apartment in a dour mood; everything seems so insignificant as of now. Life is too short after all. You want to spend some more time with your mentor but he encouraged you to go and see your friend. So here you are.
And you certainly don’t reciprocate Jace’s huge grin when he opens the door after you’ve rung the doorbell.
“Chuck, you’re here!” he exclaims before he ushers you in.
He’s wearing his Ball Guy uniform, missing his mascot mask. The more you look at it, the more you just cannot get used to that red polo and shorts combo which is apparently an abomination to fashionistas.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, when he sees your darkened expression.
“N-nothing,” you say, forcing a smile.
He purses his lips but remains quiet when you reassure him once more that you’re fine. He’s not alone. There are two suitcases standing by his shoe rack and a huge Luxray snoozing on the couch. You recall he has a visitor from Sinnoh and he wants you to meet someone and so you spot this friend standing in the kitchen with his back to you and when he turns round, a pair of cerulean eyes meets yours and you grow still on the spot.
Jace is quick to get you back on the move, steering you towards his direction with hands planted on your shoulders.
“Yo Volkner, I want you to meet my friend!!!!”
When you’re finally in front of the young man, your gazes meet for a second time. The young man has blonde hair fashioned in a spiked style and you’re quite certain you have seen him before perhaps from a magazine or a website. He’s dressed in a black v-neck shirt and dark blue denims, with a light blue coat slung over one shoulder.
“Chuck, right?” he says. He has a smooth voice, deeper than Jace's. More mature.
“Noooo, that’s just my nickname for her. Her name is-”
As Jace speaks, he is drowned by the sounds of a horn blaring noisily from a truck that passes the flat.
Regardless, Volkner nods.
You look at Jace questioningly who merely grins at you and winks. For you to hear, he says, “Volkner can be a little aloof but he’s a great guy.”
Then he pats you on the shoulder and beams widely at the two of you.
“Let me fill you in. Chuck, I’m really sorry, but I need a favour from you. I asked if you were free today because my good buddy Volkner needs a grand tour of Wyndon and of course I was supposed to do it and it would've been nice if we all went together but my stupid boss just called me and demanded me to go to work right now.”
You blink sluggishly. “Oh…I’m so sorry, Jace.”
“It’s alright; Volkner understands and doesn’t mind; it would be great if you could show him around for the time being. He was the guest judge for the Beauty Pageant but he got this fancy ride to the stadium and back so he doesn't remember how to get there; you could quickly show him Wyndon Stadium, and he’s got a meeting at the Rose of the Rondelands too so if you could show him that and also the-“
“Jace,” Volkners says.
“Yeah?”
“….I can take it from here.”
“Okay, okay,” Jace nods and grabs his Ball Guy mask that was sitting on the floor, along with his bag, “Sorry chuck.”
“It’s okay, Jace. I don’t mind showing Volkner around.”
“Thanks chuck! Thank you so much!”
Flicking a quick glimpse to Volkner, you gulp inwardly when your heart appears to quicken as he levels your gaze once more.
Volkner is good-looking. Tall, blonde, handsome and lean, you cannot help but stare as he sets his mug down on the counter and offers you his hand. You slide your hand into his and as he shakes your hand, he says, “I’m Volkner. I’m the gym leader of Sunyshore City. Do you like electric type pokemon?”
Jace groans incoherently and Volkner throws him a sideways glance.
“What?” asks the gym leader.
Exasperated by his actions somehow, Jace can only shrug and shake his head whilst you reply, “I heard you constructed your gym puzzle out of sheer boredom. Is that true?”
“Yes, that's correct.”
“Oh, okay. That’s cool. I’m a ghost-type researcher. Here’s my card,” you delve into your bag and procure a nice and shiny card for him to take.
“Ghost-types, huh?” he murmurs as he twirls your business card front and back with his long fingers.
“Yeah.”
“What pokemon do you have?”
“I have a Gengar, Mimikyu and a Runerigus at hand right now.”
“Your Gengar,” Volkner says, “What moves does he know?”
“Shadow Ball, Confuse Ray….Dark Pulse…and he also knows this psychic move but I actually don’t know what it is. He used it when we were in this cave and we were getting attacked by snow but somehow he stopped all the snow particles in mid-air and reversed it.”
“It was probably ‘Psychic’.”
“Yeah, it probably was.”
“Did you know Gengar can learn Thunder Punch, Thunderbolt and Thunder via TM?”
“No, I did not.”
“Do you want him to learn? It could help vary his techniques so he can face off against various opponents.”
“That’s a good point but I don’t know, I’ll have to ask him.”
“Sure, let me know. I have some spares which I can share with you.”
“That would be very nice.”
“They’re powerful moves. One can say they’re shocking.”
Despite delivering that line with a straight face, Jace, who has been listening to your conversation silently, cannot help but grimace and tiredly rolls his eyes whilst you blink for a brief moment or so before you chuckle and Volkner cracks a smile at your response.
Jace ceases his wincing and gapes at you two in bewilderment, having witnessed your entire interaction.
“Oh.... my….Arceus,” he breathes, swapping alarmed glances between you and Volkner, “I was right. Holy Mudkip! Well, you two seem to get along great! I-I need to go to work right now!”
“Okay,” you reply, “Leave Volkner with me. He’ll be in good hands.”
“Thanks, chuck! See you around!”
“Bye Jace,” you and Volkner bid your friend farewell and Jace rushes out of his apartment with his Ball Guy mask and bag under one arm, whooping loudly.
“I wonder what that was all about,” you reply, before you glance up at the blonde and he throws his glimpse to you, “Is he okay?”
“He’s fine,” Volkner replies, gently sliding his hands into his pockets, “So Miss Tour Guide, where shall we head to first?”
Volkner’s a pretty busy guy, you recall. He has a lot to do during his time here.
“I’ll take you to Wyndon Stadium first, we’ll walk along the promenade where you can see the river and the ferris wheel. We can visit Rose Tower if you’re interested, then we'll pop by Rose of the Rondelands and we can also grab a bite to eat if you get hungry. I know a good place.”
“Lead the way,” he replies, and he recalls Luxray after a brief introduction to the gleaming eyes pokemon, then lets you leave the apartment first. You both exit Jace’s apartment and onto the main street.
With Volkner lingering by your side, you make your way to the promenade, showing him the street signs should he ever find himself in Wyndon on his lonesome.
“It’s easy to get lost here,” you say, and Leon briefly pops up in your mind.
Ah, Leon.
You hadn’t heard from him since this morning.
You wonder how he’s doing.
You want to see him.
“It’s this way, right?” Volkner says, bringing you out of your thoughts.
“Ah, yes, that’s correct.”
The streets are heavily populated today and many people stare as you stroll along. They can tell he’s not from Galar, possibly due to his hairstyle and fashion. However, he doesn’t respond to their staring and pads along you with his hands in his pockets, drinking in the scenery and the architecture.
“How did you become a ghost-type researcher?” he asks.
“My family specialises in ghost-types and I’ve always felt drawn to them.”
“If you ever visit Sinnoh, I’ll introduce you to Fantina. You would have a lot to talk about,” Volkner replies, and when he sees your clueless expression, he adds, “she’s the gym leader of Hearthome City. She uses ghost-types and she can see spirits, so I guess you can as well?”
Volkner does not beat around the bush.
Surprisingly enough, you don’t find yourself feeling too uncomfortable and so you nod, “…I can, yeah.”
You wonder what response you will elicit; maybe he’d laugh or shrug you off and tell you he doesn’t believe in ghosts.
But instead he says, “What do they look like?” and you gawk at him.
No-one has ever asked you this before.
“It depends. Sometimes they appear exactly the way they were when they died. Others appear polished and clean, looking as they did in a particular point of their life….usually when they were most happiest. They’re usually transparent….then there are evil spirits, who are so warped by evil they lose shape and form and appear as either a black mass or scrawling dark shadows.”
Now that you’re talking about ghosts again, you cannot seem to stop.
“Actually, before I came here to see you and Jace, I visited my mentor and he said I might begin to see them during broad daylight too, which is disturbing because usually entities are more active and make their presences known at night, and that’s why I’m always investigating at late hours and usually I’m not even awake during the day.”
Volkner absorbs it and you’re waiting for him to say something to you somewhere along the lines of you being a kook or whatnot but nothing of that sort happens and again, you’re astounded when you realise he has not come under the impression that you are unhinged.
“I see. That’s interesting. It must be tough for you right now to show me around at this time.”
“Nah, it’s fine. I’m actually on a break right now so I’m trying to come out more during the day.”
“Is that so?”
You nod. “Did Jace tell you?”
“What?”
“We just got discharged from hospital; I took a case and it ended up…well, I wouldn’t say it ended badly but me and Jace did get hurt.”
“Yes, he told me but he said he’s unharmed. Is that the reason why your arm is bandaged?”
“Yeah. I’ve got stitches.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, what happened?”
“Uh….”
You’re a little apprehensive but considering he’s been rather open with you, you decide to tell him about Rose’s case and the haunted art gallery.
You breeze along the promenade; there is a separate strip for cyclists who speed past you in their triathlon gear and runners jog together, chatting amiably about gym battles and the Beauty Pageant. Several passerbys walk with their Stoutlands and some ladies with prams huddle together in one corner under a lamppost whilst a poor boy up ahead is being dragged all over the place by his energetic Boltund as it dives headfirst into a group of Pidoves.
As you talk, Volkner is listening though his expression remains impassive and generally hard to read. You cannot help but think he is perhaps bored until he sees an old gentleman sitting on a bench playing an accordion.
A Mr Rime tap-dances with its cane in tune to the music whilst some people strolling by flip pennies into a hat on the ground near its feet.
A short distance away, a group of buskers stand inside a gazebo decorated with white and pink flowers, singing an old song with their instruments. Volkner observes before he heads towards the direction of the crowd.
“Wait up,” you say as you hurry after him. He walks fast.
Once you’re at the gazebo, you both find a good spot to listen; he stands stiffly beside you with his arms crossed though there’s a small smirk gracing his face. You’re not alone; there are many people standing and listening with their children and pokemon. When they finish their piece, the crowd cheer and whilst some stay, the majority disperses.
“You don’t see that often in Sinnoh.” Volkner mutters, before he tosses a coin for the buskers.
And the walk continues.
You inhale some crisp clear air and exhale contently. Wyndon is lively today and the weather is wonderful; the sky is blue and clear and the sunlight is warm but perfect, gently prickling on your skin. A flock of Wingull can be heard cawing as they soar through the air effortlessly on their elongated wings whilst a Pelipper or two eye a local fish and chip stall.
If only Leon was here, you think.
You pass an ice-cream stall which you ogle for longer than intended; you recall you haven’t had one for some time and suddenly Volkner says, “Would you like one?”
“...Sure.”
He asks you what flavour you want and when you tell him, he goes up and orders one for you but not for him. You offer to pay but he’s already handing over the amount. You thank him as the ice-cream is pressed into your hand, and he tells you to enjoy it but you feel strange.
If Leon was here, we’d both have one or we’d be sharing…
Your expression falls upon this thought.
Wyndon Stadium soon looms into view.
He hasn’t seen anything like it before and you allow Volkner a few moments to marvel the exterior during the daytime before heading inside.
You’re surrounded by images of Leon from all four corners whether it be from the electronic billboards, TV screens, posters and portraits, which makes your heart flutter and you spot the same kiosk you had purchased some Leon merchandise before except this time the line is even bigger and there’s a Leon body pillow on display as well as a life-sized Leon cardboard cut-out. Lots of girls are queuing up to take photos.
Jace is there in his Ball Guy persona, and you see his boss standing at the door so unfortunately he cannot talk to either of you but he does wave. You wave back and Volkner strolls up to the front desk where a Macro Cosmos employee greets him.
“Welcome to Wyndon Stadium! How may I help you?”
“I'm Volkner. I’m here to register for the exhibition match.”
“Oh! Mr Volkner, I should’ve known! Yes, of course. Wait right here, let me get the paperwork.”
Goddamnit, you really hate that word now. As you idle beside Volkner, you ask, “Who’s your opponent?”
“The Champion of Galar.”
You almost choke on your spit as you splutter out in disbelief, “Leon!?”
“Yeah,” Volkner replies, as the employee hands him a pen and the aforementioned papers which are collected inside a clear file which he proceeds to look over before he fills in the blanks.
The employee moves away to give him some space as he writes down his pokemon team and other useful information before he’s given a Dynamax band which he eyes a little warily.
“…..I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this but as a representative of Sinnoh, I’ll do my best," he murmurs.
“Of course.”
“Will you cheer for me?”
“HUH? Oh, uh…..um….but I don’t even have a ticket,” you babble out, but then you recall that Leon gave you a Wyndon stadium pass but before you can mention it, Volkner pulls out a flimsy sheet of paper from within the file and hands it to you.
“You do now.”
You gawk at the ticket that he’s presented. It’s a VIP ticket, reserved for the Sinnoh representative’s plus one. “Don’t waste it on me, Jace should get it-“
The employee returns and promptly talks over you. “Mr Volkner! The Champion is actually in the stadium and practising right now; I’m sure he’d love to meet you in person!”
"We've already met last night, but sure," Volkner nods in agreement and the employee lifts up the barricade, allowing entry. He passes and the Macro Cosmos guy looks at you with a brow raised. “She’s with me."
“Yes, of course, Mr Volkner. Do come in, both of you.”
You hope you don’t see Rose inside.
The Macro Cosmos employee guides you towards an elevator which takes you to a staff and contestants-only passageway that leads to a large corridor. Up ahead and you a see locker room. The corridor finishes with a large opening that reveals the spacious and grandiose pitch.
Volkner barely bats an eyelid to the ingenious architecture and once the employee guides you to the pitch, your breath closes up in your throat when you see Leon standing at one side of the gargantuan space, directing Charizard who is whirling around in the air, flapping his wings and zigzagging left to right.
The employee leads you over to the Champion who stops in mid-sentence and Charizard, with no further instructions, abruptly lands a short distance away.
Leon’s gaze lands on you and the surprise is evident on his handsome face; he prevents his jaw dropping in time and hastily glances between you and Volkner before ultimately tensing up on his spot. His fist clinches for a split second before relaxing, and he welcomes you both with a gentle smile.
“Hello Volkner.”
“Hi Leon.”
"It's nice to see you again."
"Likewise."
They shake hands as the employee leaves your group, slipping away quietly and unnoticed.
Meanwhile, Charizard appears elevated with your presence from out of the blue and bounds over, stomping on his bulky legs and huffing happily as he reaches your side and he begins to rub his snout all over the top of your head affectionately, messing up your hair.
“Hey Charizard,” you giggle with a huge smile on your face as you pet his leathery belly whilst Leon stares at you intently.
And then there’s Volkner and the Champion glances at the gym leader before his eyes flit back to you questioningly and it’s then you realise, oh crud I am with another guy what was I thinking? And Leon says, “Are you…?”
“She’s my tour guide,” Volkner replies, “You two know each other?”
It doesn’t sound like a question.
Leon nods. “We’re……...uh...” he struggles, “-friends.”
There is a brief silence.
Charizard does a double-huff, blinking wide-eyed and snorting in surprise at his best friend. Leon seems to have realised his mistake when he witnesses the happy expression on your face gradually dissolve and crumble.
“Ah, um….I mean, er…”
“Friends,” you say quickly, offering a thin and watery smile, “we’re just…friends. Um, I’ll wait for you at the elevator.”
“Sure,” says Volkner, before he adds, “We should go somewhere to eat after this.”
“Okay.”
Following your response, a look of devastation crosses Leon’s face but he is unable to say anything as you hastily make a beeline for the exit, nervously nibbling your bottom lip. Before you leave the pitch and head to the corridor however, a gorgeous young woman in a black dress and heels emerges from the elevator and breezes past you; it’s the beauty pageant winner from last night - Miss Hulbury, now affectionately crowned 'Miss Galar' by the public - and you watch as she rushes up to the pitch, stopping in front of Volkner and Leon.
You continue to observe as she greets them happily and they chat before her gaze lands on Leon and they are both smiling, laughing and chatting amicably together and you can only stare as they stand close and she keeps looking at him and suddenly your gut tightens up; you clench your fist before you turn round with a huff under your breath.
It's not like you to be jealous, but you can't seem to help it.
Beyond your control, you throw one final glance at the pitch where the Champion is; he’s talking to Miss Galar but then his gaze lands on you and you quickly look away and head for the lift.
Waiting for Volkner, you skulk around in the dark and shuffle your feet until he returns, which means Leon and Miss Galar are left alone together.
With no intent to pry into your relationship with Leon (which you are grateful for), you and Volkner make haste for the elevator but before either of you can take one step forwards, the sounds of rushing footsteps pervade the empty corridor and you both turn round to see Leon.
“Wait,” he calls your name as he stops shortly in front of you. He appears a little nervous as he adds, "can I talk to you, alone?"
Stunned, you nod mutely and he reaches for your hand, grasping it firmly with his and he leads you round an empty corner and away from Volkner.
You glance around awkwardly when he lets go of you, and he releases you rather hurriedly as though your hand was as hot as lava or whatnot, and you look up at him in confusion, your gazes meeting. He takes a step towards you and your back hits the wall as you automatically take a baby step back.
Leon's gaze is pinned on you, before he plants one hand by the side of your head and you quirk a brow at his action.
He's not caging you or anything, but he's still cut off one means of exit though you're not inclined to retreat in any way. His face is growing red as he scans you from head and toe, seemingly taken off guard by your appearance; you've put a strong effort into your looks and outfit today and it's rather obvious he's not used to seeing you during daylight hours and in nicer garb, and he clears his throat into his fist and nervously slides his gaze to the side.
"How's your head?" he asks firstly, and you unconsciously lift a hand and trace a finger over the healing wound on the side of your head.
"I'm alright."
"That's good," he says before he jumps right into it: "Are you really Volkner's tour guide?" he adds, a little sheepishly.
You nod. "He's Jace's friend. Jace asked me to meet him today, we were supposed to show Volkner around together but Jace got called into work at last minute so I'm helping out."
"Oh."
He sounds relieved and emits a sigh.
"For a moment, I really thought-" he pauses himself in time. "...Never mind. Forget it."
You resist the urge to grin because the thought of a potentially jealous Leon is rather entertaining and endearing.
"I'm sorry," he adds, flicking his honeyed eyes to you before he attempts to reach for your hand but somehow stops himself in time, choosing to curl his fist into a ball instead. "Please forgive me for what I said back there."
"Leon, it's fine," you reply, "I'm not angry. It'll take more than that to offend me."
But you think Charizard is, and you believe he could be thinking the same thing because he smiles awkwardly at you and rubs the back of his neck.
He's finally relaxing and proceeds to lower his glance to his feet but in fact, he's inching his hand closer to you as though he's hoping to hold it; you watch as he appears to mentally debate with himself before he eventually reaches for you and picks up your hand. You resist the urge to laugh out loud as Leon holds your hand gingerly before he shifts his gaze to you once more for your reaction although his gaze has become pinned onto your lips.
A reassuring smile is his answer which prompts him to grin and lean off the wall to slap his other hand over your entwined hands, casually bringing your hand against his chest. Your smile grows, cheeks growing pink and Leon's face grows ten shades redder, his pulse soaring.
He starts to lean in, your noses nudging together which makes you smile as you contemplate that Leon is attempting to kiss you yet the warmth of his lips continue to elude you as he tries to angle his face to the side in an effort to meet your lips better. The sounds of his thudding heart can be heard but what you really want right now is to feel the strong press of his mouth against yours yet he grows still.
And he doesn't move.
You say, a little expectantly, "Leon?"
"Y-yes?"
"What's the matter?"
"...Um..."
"Don't you want to k-"
Unfortunately you don't get the chance to finish because a tannoy goes off, announcing that Rose is looking for Leon and needs him to return to the pitch.
And so you sigh. He does not fail to notice your look of disappointment and he too, mirrors your expression.
"I should go," you say. Besides, this is probably not the best place to be smooching. Maybe he's thought of the same thing too and that's why he stopped.
"...Alright," he sounds reluctant and disappointed.
To your utmost astonishment, Leon does not release you just yet and instead, gives your fingers a light squeeze and leans over, his warm lips gently brush the shell of your ear as he murmurs, “Meet me at Wyndon Central Gardens, near the riverbank. I finish at seven.”
Then he lets go of you and sprints away.
It happened very quickly and quietly.
Your heart beats frantically but you manage to waddle back to the foyer where Volkner is. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
“No problem. Shall we go?” Volkner asks and you nod limply.
“Y-yeah, let’s go,” is your shaky response.
The employee is waiting for you; he takes you to the main lobby and to the counter where you are let through and you’re back in the eye of the public.
However, a pair of kids rushing with lemonades and soda pops in hands bumps into you from seemingly nowhere and their cold beverages spills all over your front from the impact.
“Sorry!” the kids exclaim as you stand limply, the front of your outfit completely soaked.
“Are you alright?” Volkner asks.
“Oh, uh, yeah, I-I’m fine, it’s-“
The temperature drops. Your heartbeat spikes, your pulse begins to race. A bead of cold sweat drips down your forehead and you look up, startled.
“What’s wrong?”
His voice grows distant as he speaks, fading into a quiet echo in the background as you blink numbly.
The lobby is packed with people, yet you can sense a bizarre presence nearby….a presence that does not belong there.
Eyes narrowing, you filter through the traffic, sifting through the crowds and crowds of bustling, bumbling people until a young girl with pink hair perusing a random kiosk with a Sylveon grabs your attention.
Behind her, a dark figure skulks.
This unsightly individual hovers uncomfortably close to the oblivious girl with her head lazily bent to the right although the more you look, the more you realise her neck is in fact, broken. The spirit is donned in torn clothing and drenched in blood, with deep and long gashes that strains the fabric. The face cannot be seen, covered by long and matted hair that reaches her elbows, with a floral hairclip clinging lifelessly to a thin group of strands.
It’s her.
She doesn’t belong here.
Ezra was right.
You can now see them in broad daylight.
Aware you are looking at her, the ghostly figure twitches and slowly lifts her head up and it’s then you see the extent of her injuries. You have never seen such an atrocity before; she has been bludgeoned beyond recognition. Her eyes are watery and pained gaze meets yours and her bluish lips curl into a smile for a moment, before she vanishes.

All-Glitch Pokemon Blue Run Pt16: Approaching Destiny
The following is a series of texts exchanged between the devices of Professor Gingko and his assistant, June, dated 8/15/97. This document is for the personal information and use of the designated recipiet only (i.e., “for your eyes only”). It is not to be shared.
P Gingko 3:34 pm
June? Are you still out working with D4 in the Mansion? You've been gone quite a long time now. I was hoping for a status report.
Junebug 3:46 pm
ya got sidetracked sorry
P Gingko 3:47 pm
Side-tracked doing what?
Junebug 3:49 pm
um
Junebug 3:49 pm
I'll tell you but promise you won't be mad, ok?
P Gingko 3:50 pm
I won't be mad as long as you don't give me a reason to be mad.
Junebug 3:52 pm
I'm sort of in Viridian City right now
Junebug 3:52 pm
and, uh, I just finished fighting the gym leader. did yoy know the Viridian Gym leader was Giovani?
P Gingko 3:53 pm
What on Earth possessed you to do this, June? Did I not *specifically* instruct you no more gym battles or trainer fights? You know we're trying to keep a low profile!
Junebug 3:53 pm
ok see you're getting mad
Junebug 3:53 pm
look, I had a reason
Junebug 3:54 pm
I heard on the news that the Viridian Gym was accepting challengers again, and somebody was speculating the leader of the gym was actually this giovani guy
Junebug 3:54 pm
and like it was acting as his sort of cover. you know, the dude who is in charge of team rocket? those losers who keep smuggling pokemon and stuff? and they were RIGHT, it totally was giovani
P Gingko 3:56 pm
I fail to see why this is relevent. What does it matter if the Gym leader is Giovani? You still shouldn't have challenged him, especially in front of so many witnesses.
Junebug 3:58 pm
because I stopped him! I stomped him flat with my glitch pokes and he was so confused and humiliated that he swore he couldnt even face team rccket anymore. he said he's disbanding the whole organization! look i knew somebody had to take the guy down a few pegs, and I was right, it worked.
P Gingko 4:00 pm
As commendable as that is, June, this sort of thing still is best left to the authorities to deal with. Let the police and investigators handle Team Rocket. It's not the job of a busy young lady who's assisting a glitch pokemon professor on very delicate research.
Junebug 4:02 pm
Isn't it, though?
P Gingko 4:02 pm
Isn't it what?
Junebug 4:05 pm
Look, Professor. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. We've been spending months now researching these glitch pokemon. And you've spent YEARS doing it. All in super secrecy. Ever since they were discovered, its been in secret. youve been slaving away in the shadows, and all your colleagues just think youre some qwuak, some lunatic.
P Gingko 4:05 pm
The reminder is, in fact, not necessary. I'm well aware of how the academic community perceives me.
Junebug 4:06 pm
Don't you think it's about time we do something about that? We've learned so much and we have PLENTY of proof by now! We can go public about glitch pokemon and show the world what they've been missing. or misunderstanding.
P Gingko 4:08 pm
June, that's not for you to decide. The nature of our research is very important but also very sensitive. We're working with incredibly powerful forces. In the wrong hands, or if mishandled, glitch pokemon and glitch phenomenon can be devastating
Junebug 4:11 pm
Yeah but isn't that all the more reason to go forward with the truth? Sooner or later, some random person will stumble across glitches, just like I did. And who knows what will happen to them. But if we go forward and educate people, then, laws can be made, and people can learn about them, and we can all know how to deal with glitches properly.
Junebug 4:11 pm
and also people will realize we're not crazy!! you wont have to work in obscurity anymore. you can be a hero! recognized for your genius.
P Gingko 4:12 pm
Appealing to my sense of vanity won't work, you know.
Junebug 4:12 pm
its not really about the glory though, thats just a nice added bonus.
P Gingko 4:15 pm
June . . . it's not as though I have not considered these facts. I've thought about them for years. About when to go public, and how, and with what information. It is of course my ultimate goal to reveal what we've learned to the world. So that everyone can live safely and co-exist with these amazing creatures.
P Gingko 4:15 pm
But it's not as simple as just holding a press conference and proclaiming things to the world. There are so many factors to consider.
Junebug 4:17 pm
Maybe you'r over-complicating it, though. like, I had this great idea yesterday about how we can do it.
P Gingko 4:17 pm
I mean this with no offense, but I very much doubt that you've settled on a solution more sophisticated then my years of consideration has generated.
Junebug 4:19 pm
wait til you hear it before dismissing it, man
Junebug 4:19 pm
you're gonna love it
Junebug 4:19 pm
you ready to hear it?
P Gingko 4:20 pm
June.
Junebug 4:20 pm
ok so . . . .
Junebug 4:20 pm
I take my team of glitch pokemon and I beat the Elite 4 and become Pokemon Champion of the entire region.
Junebug 4:24 pm
Professor?
Junebug 4:26 pm
Professor, u still there?
Junebug 4:27 pm
c'mon man its a brilliant idea
P Gingko 4:30 pm
Get back to the lab. We're not discussing this.
Junebug 4:30 pm
Aw, cmon. What better way to prove to the whole world the power and reality of glitch pokemon? Nobody can call it phony after that, and nobody can deny them. Plus with the prestige of Championship we'll be in a position to put forth our important research and ideas on handling glitch pokes safely.
Junebug 4:40 pm
Professor, are you there?
P Gingko 4:48 pm
Get back to the lab.
P Gingko 4:48 pm
We can discuss it there.

(E-mail from one week later)
Professor,
This is the update you wanted about my journey through Victory Road. I know you’re still feeling hestitant even after all our long discussions about the plan. I hope this report can reassure you that this is going to go off without a hitch.
My first hurdle on the journey began before I could even take a single step on Victory Road. Professor Oak’s grandson had once again managed to track me down. It’s like that kid has a sixth sense for honing in on me and being annoying, I swear. He demanded a battle, so I complied.
Things were a cakewalk, but then, uhh. He sent out his Alakazam and it was . . . a lot stronger then before. By like, a lot.
He wiped my entire team. It was almost in an instant.
But that didn’t matter, because I’m no pushover trainer! Maybe I used to be, but these days I’ve learned an awful lot. So I dug into my supplies of TMs and found the perfect one. I taught Giago Thunder Wave.
During our rematch, Gia survived a hit and paralyzed the Alakazam. I knew the Zam had paltry Defense, so I sent out Fractal, who has amazing physical Attack. The Zam crumpled before us!
Things were a little tight with the final foe, a level 53 Blastoise, but my team chipped him down enough that Wobbles could easily finish the job. Not bad for a team sitting at around level 35.
With that annoying kid cleared out of the way, we headed to the caves known as Victory Road.
The journey wasn’t exactly a quick one, I’ll be honest. It took a lot of tromping around, getting lost, pushing rubble out of the way, and battling trainers that had alarmingly high-levelled pokemon. I eventually decided it would probably be best if we did a little extra training. It would make the trip a bit smoother.
So we trained, and we trained hard. Our goal was for everyone to reach level 40. Not too ambitious, just around 5 levels or so. For some, it was pretty easy. Wobbles had no problems, and Gia was packing Surf. Sure, Gia’s Special isn’t great, but it was still enough to take out the local Rock/Ground types in the cave. Jasper took slightly longer to work with, but with Earthquake and Hydro Pump, he still didn’t have much trouble.
Dusty was a bit harder to train. As you know, her stats have never been incredible . . . besides her speed, that is. But she had Bubblebeam, Ice Beam and Hydro Pump, so it actually wasn’t too bad; just a little more time-consuming.
Then there was Fractal. I’ve noted before that Fractal’s defenses (both of them) are the worst of the team’s, and frankly abysmal. So training him was certainly a challenge. I opted to wander the grasses just outside of the cave, beating on Dittos and Fearows and healing a TON. It took a while, but eventually, even Fractal rose through the ranks.
After Fractal, there was just Charmed left to train. It wasn’t too bad, considering how balanced Charm’s stats are. The only extra thing I needed to do was duplicate some Elixirs for Charmed. She still doesn’t trust Pokecenter nurses, so she’ll only accept heals from me. I even bought Charmed a little treat and taught her Fire Blast.
Of course, if I’d wanted to, I could have duplicated a crapton of Rare Candies and just fed them to my pokemon. But I wasn’t going to do that. After all, you told me eating too much candy isn’t healthy for pokemon, and besides, I knew they could prove themselves in battle.
And that they did. We finally cleared Victory Road’s twisted, confusing tunnels and made it outside to face the large, dominating building that housed the Elite Four.
It was time.

I get it about Nessa
But in the long history of Pokemon, I wouldn’t say it’s her skin that’s the reason she’s dressed so sparsely.
Tl:dr; CW: Pedophilia
Nessa’s very clearly a child character, and even since the 90s when Pokemon first came out, there has been at least one teenage female bait character in Pokemon. I remember, because I was there. This same uproar happened for Misty when Pokemon came to America. They pulled certain episodes off the shelves at Blockbuster, or skipped them on the Saturday line ups. At age 8 I didn’t notice the skipped episodes, but when I watched the subs in my teens, some things were VERY different.
The first one was Misty. She wore precisely as much clothing as Nessa does now. Her only purpose in the series was to attract boys... and well:
This managed to make it past localization once or twice i think.
This type of stuff was ALL OVER anime back in the 90s. (like dragonball, where Chi Chi ‘s child outfit was a string bikini and Bulma, a CHILD and also tech genius was a panty shot gag ).
American localization did a lot to protect Misty’s image, like repainting her trainer card so she’s not nude , but it still came through that she, a girl of only 10(Japan)/14(US) was an object of desire first and foremost.
I read the American version of this (right) as a 10y/o. I read the fansub version on a nostalgia kick in my 20s and thought the scanlators had lewded it. For reference, in this series Misty is 12. I'm rather glad that 10 y/o me got the SFW version.
Now, back to the theory that Nessa’s exotique blackness is the reason she’s wearing that swimsuit. Most of the folks complaining about this bring up how Nintendo’s black characters are portrayed...while completely ignoring the black people IN Pokemon.
To be absolutely fair though...the pokemon series only seems to have discovered black people in 2014, so let’s look at the like, 5 they’ve had since inception:
A child, Auntie, MMA fighter, and uh.... that guy
The R34 of these characters, and subsequently the cultural memory of them, is pretty sparse. In a series as vast as pokemon, you have to reserve your interest. Long term fans know this, and so do creators.
If you think the character designs aren’t also carefully selected marketing plans, you don’t know pokemon. Let’s look at Iris. She’s one of Ash’s youngest companions and very consistently coded as a young child.
Fully clothed, open stance, child proportions. Absolutely cannot be misconstrued as a teen.
She’s an accomplished gym leader and otherwise fits the entire bill for companion character, EXCEPT, her outfit doesn’t lead to easy R34.
Now let’s look at some teen characters. Pokemon is reluctant to name ages because they learned very clearly from the international reception of Misty that a 12y/o with underboob isn’t gonna fly.
What DOES fly is age-ambiguous girls. Is she or isn’t she young enough to be clean and pure, but old enough to be sexy and not send ya to jail.
But cr0w!!!! That’s just how they draw women!!!!!
Well for one that’s not fair. I demand himbo rights
For two, without Google, which one of these young women is confirmed over 18? It’s impossible to tell because what makes Pokemon character designs so interesting and varied also blurs the concept of age. These are the proportions and face structures they use for female designs ages 15-23.
In comparison, the vast majority of adult (but not elderly) women are coded similar to this:
This woman clearly has a mortgage and a 100% interchangeable pod wardrobe. She has opinions on gruyere
There are tons more examples, including the player trainer’s mom, random trainers they meet, and more experienced gym leaders. As with any model, the potential for lewds are there. There’s plenty of Nurse joy R34 out there.
The key here is not that Nessa is getting optimal sun exposure due to her skin but probably because Pokemon has had an ephebophilia problem since 1989. It’s not as blatant as uh, it once was:
but the series still puts out a lot of ‘barely legal’ designs of young teenage girls. Every generation had at least one, even after all of the redesigns and localization made the overall IP way more G-rated.
Pokemon has proven that they can and will make a black female trainer. It’s not a problem for them at all. The problem is if they want that trainer to be a selling point for the game.
Gen 6 Schoolgirl, probably not much younger than Nessa
Lenora, who all yall imMEDIATELY forgot existed
It’s just that if they plan to feature a young female, usually Ash’s companion, she’s going to have something that draws the eye to her panty line. Even after literally 30 years of making the series kid friendly, it still comes out. There has to be at least one major bait character, and it’s going to always be a teen-coded girl.
It’s ok to be critical of media, but harping on someone else’s knee jerk reactions become performative when you don’t think about all the other parts of the puzzle. Are you hyperfocusing on Nessa because she’s in a swimsuit, or is it really just because you want to nitpick the black character that’s getting attention?
If you make this swimsuit thing about being black, you have to ignore the much longer history of creepy pedo-attracting that still seeps into pokemon character design.

If you would have to rank every pokemon generation, in what order would you put them?
Oh man, that’s easy.
Gen 4 is the best one, with Platinum standing at the very top. I really like the mythology, and how legendary Pokemon all feel super significant. I like the balance of the games, and how difficult gym leaders can be in Platinum, while never making it a matter of it being hard to keep up in terms of level. And HGSS are fantastic remakes in their own right, so like...it’s the best generation.
Gen 5 is next. I actually think I like Black/White 1 more than 2. I like the idea of the region having a lot of new Pokemon, but that’s all you get the main campaign. I think that’s way better than modern gens giving like 50 actually new Pokemon, pretending regional variants are important, and mostly filling the region with old faces.
Gen 3 is next. I’m torn between Emerald or FRLG at the top. I play FRLG more often, but Emerald’s a really great third game overall, so they’re both winners. I like the open feeling of exploration, and that there’s basically no plot. It’s probably the best generation for a pure gameplay experience, because it lacks the flaws of earlier generations, but hadn’t shifted into frequent, lengthy scenes as a focus yet. Also I think Gen 3 had the best roster of new Pokemon. There are so many winners.
Gen 2 gets the next slot, but I am willing to admit that’s mostly nostalgia. Crystal reigns above the other two. Crystal is the best third game in a generation. You got all the legends of the region in one, it took away one of the roaming Pokemon as a new scene, added a ton of new Pokemon you can get early on, and...honestly I just have the best memories for Gen 2 stuff. I’d also say that, for just the main game, stat experience was better than EVs. One issue of the remakes of the first two gens is that the original gens were based on stat experience, so you could beat Red with like level 60 Pokemon no problem because of how much higher your stats could be. Without that system, the remakes do demand a bit more grinding to keep pace, which is a mild problem. Plus, EVs can be unwiedly, and you can train stats that you wind up never using in later generations.
Gen 7. Despite ragging on modern gens really hard, I do like Gen 7 as a story. And that’s pretty much what does it. I don’t particularly love the new Pokemon, and certain evolutions drive me absolutely insane (why does Morelull become an alien baby in a diaper? Why is Toucannon the final form of the adorable Pikipek?). The boss battles also suck. 2v1 is a stupid idea to artificially create difficulty; Gens 3-5 did it so much better. The Z-moves are stupid and have no real place here at all. They’re the most trivial thing ever for the main game. Also, USUM does drag it down super hard. God those games were a ruination.
Gen 1. Despite being incredibly dated, buggy, and kind of a disaster, I have a hard time hating on Gen 1. Sometimes it’s nice to go back, and just not worry at all about natures, or gender of Pokemon, or anything. It’s the purest experience, in that there’s nothing but the Pokemon and their moves. Granted, it’s obnoxious that nothing learn anything ever, and because of how a counter to each gym is placed right near that gym it’s pretty much a solved game, but it’s not so bad.
Gen 6. The first generation I’d say I dislike. Your friends are the worst. The new roster was pathetically small, and it started that awful trend. Despite having the best gimmick of modern gens with Mega Evolution, it didn’t show up until post-game, except for the Gen 1 starters and Lucario. It was by far the biggest culprit of Gen 1 pandering, offered almost nothing novel despite having some great designs in the new Pokemon, and made zero use of its new gimmick for the actual game and instead expected people to focus on it for post-game, which doesn’t exist and is just “Get into competitive,” which was made minimally easier. I don’t like this game. At all.
Gen 8. But god I hate Gen 8. Now, I do admit, the characters are not that bad. I also admit that Dynamax is the best integrated mechanical gimmick for any of the modern games. It actually matters. Though Gigantamax is a fucking joke. But honestly? It’s boring. Forced EXP Share means the game’s over in like 10 hours of play with no resistance. The game gives wild Pokemon at your same level so you never have to invest anything to keep up. The main game’s levels scale like shit, right up until the League, where they start rapidly inflating. The Wild Area is a complete disaster, being open but completely empty, and having the myriad Pokemon you can find be completely randomized in like 12 different ways, with no player control. Daily events are locked in hard, and you’re forced to save before everything, so soft resetting for something you want is outright impossible without mechanical exploitation on the level of manipulating the system’s sense of time. The aesthetic of the region is awful, I hate the fact that everything is based in corporate sports jerseys, or the gross-looking counter-culture that is Team Yell, who’s a pathetic rip-off of Team Skull. Honestly, that’s my biggest issue with characters here too. Hop is just Hau but less interesting, with a hint of Bianca’s uncertainty about what he wants to do sprinkled in but for dumber reasons. Hop sucks. He’s a few traits from different rivals throughout the series but done worse. Gen 8 is the first time I would say that a Pokemon game is outright unfun to play. I’ve tried three times. The first time was kinda boring, so I tried a second time hoping it would feel different. It didn’t, but after a while I decided to try with Pokemon I liked from the region, but couldn’t make it past the first three gyms. Gen 8 sucks, it’s absolutely the worst of the bunch. Because as much as Gen 1 can feel painfully dated, and as much as Gen 6 can be obnoxious with its cast, at least they can still be fun to play. Gen 8 has never once felt fun to play, which is the biggest condemnation of it I can imagine. More than any graphical issue or complaint levied against it, the fact that it’s just not fun is way, way worse.

3 and 19 for the salty ask?
3) Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
Not really. I think I like unfollowed 2, maybe 3 people in the last 4 years that I’ve been on Tumblr due to completely different reasons (I think one person kept spamming me, one would post a shitton of random stuff every day and it was too overwhelming for my dashboard and I don’t really remember the third one). Honestly, if someone has an opinion I don’t agree with, I rather listen to their reasoning since it is interesting to see something from a different perspective. I would only unfollow if they would pester me with it.
19) What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
FIRST GEN WAS THE BEST! aka. people who can’t shut up how great the first generation of the first series like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! and bash any other spin-off. I’ll admit it, when I was done with Duel Monsters, I hardly watched GX due to missing the old gang but eventually I grew to love the characters and story, especially Judai, Johan, Yubel and Jim. Same went for 5Ds. I thought Yusei was going to be this edgy, cool and always glaring protagonist, but he turned out to be the sweetest and smartest guy who deeply cares about his friends. I needed a while to get used to Yuma and Yuya, but once I really got into ARC V, I realized just how much development each spinoff got. VRAINS is still going strong and now that I’m rewatching the first series, I can see that it wasn’t as perfect and that there were things missing. I wouldn’t say it was the worst, but it is quite obvious that Duel Monsters were doing a lot of things for the first time. Spin-offs so got the basis and added more elements to new ones. VRAINS literally took everything that made the previous series great and put it together in a very well-written show. I have no doubt the next spin-off will incorporate the old elements that we know and love and add something brand new to make it unique. But no, people refuse to watch anything new and claim the first generation is the one and only without any other constructive argument. When I was cosplaying Yuya, I got several responses like “Why are you cosplaying that guy when you could be cosplaying someone from gen one? That way people could recognize you.” “Oh look, it is that Yugi-wannabe.” “I never watched anything past one gen. It is the best.” I cosplayed Yuya because he is a yugioh protagonist I relate to the most. I love ARC V and being Yuya was one way to show it. Still, that one other guy had a nerve to tell me off how bad ARC V was compared to first-generation EVEN THOUGH HE NEVER ACTUALLY WATCHED IT! Like dude chill, some people actually decided to go past their childhood nostalgia and gave new series a chance. I completely understand that people have preferences, but bashing new spinoffs just because you decided the first one is the best without an actual argument is utterly rude and unnecessary. A lot of people wish for a first-generation reboot like Sailor Moon, but what is really a point of that? Yugi and Atem got their conclusive end in Dark Side of Dimensions - Atem got his well-deserved rest and Yugi can now peacefully work on his new game without saving the world. With a new reboot, this ending will no longer be conclusive and will obviously be just a cash grab. That’s the charm of the new spin-offs. They continue to tell new stories with new elements and characters and to be honest, it is going really well.
Same goes for Pokemon. My favourite generations are Diamon&Pearl and XYZ, and I absolutely prefer Eureka/Bonnie, Citron/Clement and Hikari/Dawn to all other companions. I’m sorry, but Misty wasn’t as great as others praise her to be and Brock has been with Ash for three generations. Ash will likely always be the main protagonist, so it is nice if at least his companions get switched. I remember watching the 20th Pokemon movie, I Choose You and I really liked the idea of Ash having two new companions in an alternative timeline. But noooo, a whole lot of people weren’t having it. They claimed it felt like Misty and Brock were erased. Like duh, they weren’t supposed to be in it, how else are you supposed to represent the alternative timeline? Personally, I think Sorrel and Verity were really unique and would fit well as Ash’s companion. Verity was probably the first female pokemon trainer that ever travelled with Ash (other girls were either gym leaders, coordinators, performers and whatever Iris and Alola girls are) and her energetic and ongoing persona was really enjoyable, she kinda felt like female Ash. And Sorrel? I loved every single aspect of him. From his fear of losing pokemon and recovering with the help of Lucario to his dream of becoming a professor. And somehow the two of them got so much hate, simply because they weren’t Misty and Brock. This was likely the reason why that was their only appearance. The new characters in Power of Us make sense because they were all from that main city and the main story revolved around their insecurities and them learning how to make a step forward. Still Verity and Sorrel could still fit in there in some way. And the next movie? 3D reboot of the first movie! The first time I watched the trailer I was like “What even is this?” With so many Disney live-action reboots, it was just a matter of time before Pokemon would pick up the same idea. With over twenty movies, they are slowly losing ideas and with so many fans who demand nostalgia they went along with it. I’m yet to see that movie but from what I’ve seen, I fear it will end up like Lion King remake - a complete copy without a heart (kinda ironic since it is literally about clones). I miss the creativity and passion put in other movies, I mean, the staff members travelled the world to get inspiration and used real-life monuments, towns and cultures as a basis. Are they slowly giving up in those outrageous demands from loud fans?
To sum up, yes I dislike fans who insist something that came first was the best and don’t give the following the chance. I agree the spinoffs aren’t always the best (looking at you TMNT, Digimon and Beyblade), but I don’t in any way bash them. I will express my dislikes, but I will always provide a reason why and listen to people who indeed like it. Creators are pressured enough as it is and we should appreciate their work in any way we can.

POKEMON DOODLES. BETCHA DIDNT SEE THAT COMING.
These mediocre doodles are mostly for Omi. Theyre not even real characters from the games/show... its just... dont worry about it. Since im lazy its all just sketchy doodles. ((A shit ton of them under the cut!))
Hugo (Nat- ):
Candy (Nat- Naive): A not all together newbie. Im sure she was delighted to get he codename... and then less delighted that there was someone already called ‘Candyman‘.
Scarecrow or just ‘Crow’ (Nat- Modest): A spooky man who’ll fit whatever roll he needed for. Very flexible. Has an easy personality to deal with though hes not very forthcoming about himself personally... might be better in a job like this.
Lock (Nat- Quiet):
Doc (Nat- Careful): He has a lot of information on almost everyone... aside from Sickle whos doctor is Emanuel. Hes not a fighter and refuses to evolve because his tail was mutilated and he can be a Slowbro anymore. Hes somehow gained a weirdly dark organ harvester rep... maybe because hes rarely seen and peoples imagination go wild... but to the people under his care hes just a nice, tiny guy who does a good job of patching them up quickly. He will smuggle drugs however because now he gets to work in better conditions under Sickle... hes also got a strange morbid sense of humor.
Wisp (Nat- Hasty): An ice queen type, kinda haughty and smug but shes got the skills to back that up so no one can talk shit. Like ‘sure shes an asshole... but shes not wrong‘. She tries to work WITH people just so she can get them the fuck away from her as quickly as possible. She doesnt appreciate people overstaying their welcome and prefers to go solo. If she needs a partner she prefers another woman or at least a pretty man... but someone like Link or Skim would be better.
Skim (Nat- Sassy): Honestly just a nod to Catwoman in general.
Father (Nat- Serious): A very religious man, mute, demands perfection. If you work for him and fuck up and embarrass him youre in for a world of hurt. No matter how fond he may seem to be towards someone this is true. He doesnt play favorites and he doesnt want anyone under him to stagnate. You push yourself or HE’LL PUSH YOU. The operatives working under him are jokingly referred to as his ‘kids‘. Toward his equals he can be respectful... or maybe just tolerant.
Perma (Nat- Adamant): A cruel efficient lady. Has a thing for blades which is possibly why she has no trouble working for a guy like Sickle. The fact hes not interested piques her interest in him even more.
Gadget (Nat- Rash): Tries to be a fun gamer girl but her short temper makes it hard. Some suggest her codename should be ‘Tripwire‘ because of how unpredictably dangerous she can be... but she disagrees BECAUSE SHES A FUCKING DELIGHT. Can be a bit of a troll... and not the goofy fun kind (the malicious I’ll ruin your life if you cross me kind).
Blink (Nat- Calm) A Very obedient and very smart. Has a really droning dull voice and never loses his temper. Hes good at calming a certain Luxray down.
Mele (IDK)
Wool (Nat- Sassy) Plays dumb and pretty but hes rather clever and is a fun loving fella. Has a French accent. Master of disguise!
Wreckingball (Nat- Hardy): Has no real talent or skill. Hes just a tough bastard you call in if you need to fuck some shit up. Hes probably one of the more pleasant agents in Sickles crew and is chummy... probably not the greatest idea considering his coworkers are a bunch of shady assholes.
Mittens (Nat- Jolly): Hes another rather nice agent of Sickles. But hes not a dumbass like Wreckingball and has become of the head of the Sigma divison. He is a bit reckless tho. He can shoot his arms off and use them as weapons so he occasionally wears prosthetic arms and spends a lot of time with Doc.
Prick (Nat- Impish) Hes a smarmy lad who enjoys talking vaguely and annoying people. HIS NAME IS APPROPRIATE AND HE LOVES IT.
River (Nat- Naughty): Flirty and dangerous. Hes a killer but hes quick and efficient doesnt draw out anyones death. Not because hes nicer or squeamish or anything its because torture isnt in his job description. Hes great at getting people to think he honestly cares and like using built trust to crush his victims. He also like cucumbers! He somehow gets along well with Madam even though theyre both just being fake bitches.
Madam (Nat- Mild): Looks very dainty and delicate and uses peoples desire to please a pretty woman to take advantage of them. Shes not shy about minor edits to peoples memories to help her get away even though its illegal.
Cleo (Nat- Docile):
Cresent the Shiny Lycanroc (dusk form. Nat- relaxed)
Link the Golisopod (Nat- Quiet)-
Methuselah the Drampa (Nat- Mild)
Viola the Chatot (Nat- Naughty)
Sandstorm the Flygon (Nat- Adamant)... Her personality is like that of a strict teacher dont let her have a ruler unless you wanna get spanked. Shes neat and detail oriented and because shes so outwardly respectable... no one would ever suspect shes a fucking thief. Shes a collector of rare and valuable books and of course prefers original copies. Her social skills arent grea unless shes pretending to be someone shes not and gets embarrassed if she reveals too much about herself to anyone.
Cavendish the Tropius (Nat- Lax). Her personality is like shes on autopilot, she gets shit done but shes sorta checked out. Shed much rather just stay home but she also got expensive tastes and shes not rich.
Alkaloid (Nat- Lonely): A gloomy lass that craves companionship. Shes not great at making connections to people which is fine for her position but really wants to have someone to click with. After she lost her eye she became even more distant with people. Shes rather fond of Doc though their relationship is rather one sided... her projecting some strange friendship on him because he cares for her and keeps her secrets... but hes a doctor and its kind of his job.
Blanco (Nat- Quirky): A vain dramatic ladies man. Is a skilled in his job (of course) but he hates when hes gotta tone back his extravagant life. After a long job he likes to surround himself with lively people and have some fun. He thinks he works VERY well with others and thinks himself a perfect partner.... most find him obnoxious and a lot have told him so... he just takes all criticism as jokes and lets it roll off him. If nothing else hes very positive!
Mistletoe (Nat- Serious): He seems cold and scary but hes a man of honor (for a guy who tortures people for a living anyway). He refuses to harm anyone weaker than him and is very caring of children and will step in if he sees some injustice if he can. Rouge agents, traitors, and shit like that though... hes ruthless and is very good at prying information out of them. His hobby of developing new and dangerous poisons/chemicals are often tested on whoever hes toying with. ((He should have spots on the light red parts of his jacket... I forgot them IDK how OH WELL. I wanna tweak his costume a bit anyways. Vileplume colors are so bleh.))
Dust (Nat- Calm): Outwardly very charming but theyre not as sweet as they seem on the inside. Dust doesnt need to bring their victims in any kind of room to do their dirty work and prefers using their dust and psychic abilities to just mind fuck their victims into submission.
The Candyman the Alolan Muk (Nat- Quiet) is an annoyingly patient man and the perfect guy to call if you need to teach someone a lesson. If no one else can do it... THE CANDYMAN CAN. IDK what that Mr Mime did but he pissed Sickle off... Candyman has one weak point and thats his poor eyesight... and he’ll get very annoyed if you touch his glasses.
Doc gets a penpal.
BB Sparky helps Boat be a Pichu with the clever use of feathers and a pink marker.
Lees a hit with his mommas work friends.
Lee and his kids. (Sam and Sparky are his kids occasionally.) Hes a stronk boy but his health isnt the best... even Sam can feel a little guilty and worried when he causes trouble for his friend.
Alex is not an easy man to anger and hes very dangerous when hes angry but no matter how pissed off he is... just seeing Lee can sweep that all away. Alex can get away with a lot... but Lee still wont let him wear his preferred fighting attire. QQ so mean.
I revamped Boats friend Arcane. Hes a cop. ...he mostly hangs out with other dogs but also Boat. Nice guy, very righteous but also kind of a prideful asshole sometimes.
Ray revamp.
I made Sandy shiny because the black looked cool.
Some cops.
Another scientist
TAPUS!!!
Halos childhood friend turned criminal.
Stan and Davy fam!! Stans mum is a detective, his dad is a stay at home dad.
Davys mum is an ~*~ARTIST~*~ especially in fashion but shes flexible and creative... and very spontaneous and his dad is former military turned workhorse for his wife. Hes good at sewing with all his tentacles.
Although her desire to have a kid was random and ill thought out... they werent as awful at being parents as he thought.
Another Ray! Mega Manectric and Hebenon.
BB Pokemon Quest crew.
I forgot to add Ho-Oh Lugia
And the trios.
#Pwny Gijinka mon fanarts.#PKMN fanarts#Slowpoke#Toxicroak#Milotic#Hitmonlee#Raichu#...I dont feel like typing all the Pokies I added to this post.#LMAO Fuck it.

@thetreeofbeginning has sent: ☠ - Riley (because i need some that sweet, sweet angst)
Send one of the following or send ☠ and I'll use a random number generator to pick one of the following Mafia themed prompts. - some NSFW and possible triggers [SELECTIVELY, mutuals, accepting]
3. Mole: My muse slips in your gang to gain information
“Aha...And you live here, in this island- all by yourself Riley? Oh my poor, poor thing.”
Morty asked in a playful manner- as he kept chuckling, feigning a state of drunkness all while pouring more alcohol for the aura user. The blond is sitting on the other man’s lap, one hand is playing with his hairlocks- he is gracing Riley with numerous kisses all over his face.
‘We aren’t doing much progress for now Morty, the beasts still refuse to come out of their hidding spot. And we are running out of funds- Morty see if you could get your hands on some valuable pokemon, to sell.’
This is all because of his partner’s request, those were the words that played in the bacl of the Rocket agent’s mind- when he picked Riley over the other known breeders within the Sinnoh region.
There is a high demand for the Lucario line in the black market, he knows that- and this lonely foolish man is the last standing obstacle to his goal. All that he needs is access to his pokemon.
"Is it just you and the Riolus my dear? It must be quite tiring isn’t it?...How could you possibly go and check on them out like this dear?”
“Allow me to take care of them...While you enjoy this, huh?”
